Pastoral Search

Our former pastor, the Rev. J. Bruce Baker, retired in 2016 after 14.5 years of serving All Souls Parish. With assistance from our intentional interim pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jane Ann Groom, we have been exploring, experimenting, and working to discern where God is leading us in this next phase of our journey. We conducted a mission study in the Spring of 2017 using after church “congregational conversations” to conduct surveys of the congregation and engage in critical conversations about our needs and hopes for the future of our church.  The Mission Study Document reflects the findings from these conversations.

The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) was elected by the congregation on January 14, 2018 and consists of Penny Kovacic, Chair; Meryl Bovard, Deborah Pfau, Renate Sutterlin, and Mary Alice Warner. Please keep the PNC in your prayers. We are humbled by the trust you have placed in us and blessed with the opportunity to serve this community of God. The committee meets weekly to:

  •  Pray, seeking God’s guidance during this process;

  •  Create a Ministry Information Form (MIF) giving information about the church;

  •  Post MIF on PC(USA) Church Leadership Connection website;

  •  Review and evaluate Personal Information Forms (PIFs) received from potential candidates;

  • Prepare supplemental, clarifying questions for candidates and video interviews;

  • Schedule, conduct and discuss video interviews;

  • Discern final list of candidates;

  • Contact candidate references following clearance by Hudson River Presbytery;

  • Schedule on-site interview and neutral-pulpit preaching for each final candidate;

  • Discuss candidates following on-site interview and preaching experiences;

  • Extend call to final candidate and determine start date of ministry;

  • Arrange and host candidating weekend activities;

  • Work with new pastor on Order of Service for Ordination/Installation.
